Services for Sam Swift, former state representative who died at 10 p.m. Saturday at Mercy Hospital will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the Hoffmann Mortuary to Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Benton, Wis.

Mr. Swift, a retired Dubuque barber, suffered a hip fracture when he fell nine days before his death. He had been in critical condition for two days. he had lived at St. Anthony Home

Friends may call at the mortuary.

He was born Oct. 15, 1875, at Benton, son of the late John P. and Mary Ellen Mulligan Swift. He became a barber as a young man. Long active in the Democratic Party, he was a state representative in the 1930's. He also served as county recorder.

A Catholic, he was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Laymen's Retreat Association. Until his retirement some years ago, he was active in many social, fraternal and business activities.

He married Dorothy Baule on Jan. 1, 1902.

Surviving are the widow; three daughters, Mrs. Harry (Carolyn) Kliener and Mrs. Harold (Helen) Akins, both of Oakland, Calif., and Mrs. Lester (Aileen) Neyens, of Dubuque; four granddaughters and three great grandsons; four sisters, Mrs. Herman Grotkin, of Benton, Wis., Mrs. Nick Ginter, of Dubuque, Mrs. Theresa Birkett, of Des Moines, and Mrs. Elsie Kenney, of Milwaukee, Wis.' and three brothers, John, Elzie and Clarence Swift, all of Dubuque.

He was preceded by and infant daughter and three sisters.
