Virginia M. Goffinet, 90, of Bethany Home, formerly of 3467 Hillcrest Road, died Monday, April 21, 2003, at Bethany Home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with entombment in Resurrection Garden Mausoleum at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Thursday at the church. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on Sept. 6, 1912, in Otter Creek, Iowa, daughter of William and Josephine (O'Rourke) Martin. She married Raymond Goffinet on April 15, 1950, at St. Mary's Catholic Church; he died on Dec. 22, 1990.

Virginia lived in Dubuque most of her life. She was a homemaker and also helped Ray operate, Ray's Meat Market, for many years. She has been a long time member of St. Mary's Parish. Virginia was a Cubs fan, but enjoyed watching any baseball game which happened to be on TV. Watching college basketball games also was a favorite pastime, as well as playing euchre with her friends.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Jo Goffinet, of Dubuque; a sister-in-law, Isabelle Kramer, of Milwaukee; and nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Sister Leonice, Evelyn Bernhard, Marguerite Stokesberry and Elizabeth McLaughlin; six brothers, Frank, Leonard, Florence, Heinie, Bill and Chris.

A Virginia M. Goffinet Memorial Fund has been established.
