Mrs. Gary W. (Jane E.) Marburger, 60, of 1855 Scenic View Drive, died at 7:20 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2003, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Roselawn Chapel at Dennis Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, where friends may call after 5 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Mrs. Marburger worked for more than 20 years in interior design at Kahle's Home Furnishings and was a master seamstress.

She was born on May 12, 1942, in Dubuque, daughter of Lester and Marcella (Mullen) Walker. She grew up in Dubuque and graduated from Dubuque Senior High School.

She married her first husband, Robert A. "Bob" Smith on June 11, 1960; he passed away on May 1, 1988. She then married Gary W. Marburger on May 12, 1993, in Dubuque.

She was a longtime member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and served on many volunteer organizations during the time she was active in the sorority.

She and her first husband, Bob, had a passion for music and often performed as the duo "Union".

Surviving are her husband, Gary W. Marburger; three daughters, Laura (Dennis) Smith-Noggle, of Overland Park, Kan., Nicci (Kenny) Richardson, of Olathe, Kan., and Sonni (David) Wahlstrom, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four grandchildren, Hayes, Robin, Hayden and Connor; two brothers, John (Lucy) Walker, of Sun City, Calif., and Jim (Pat) Walker, of Norco, Calif.; and a sister, Sandi (Bob) Churchill, of Dubuque.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Phyllis Willging and Berta Defendi; and a brother, Bill Walker.

The family requests no flowers. A Jane E. Smith Marburger Memorial Fund has been established by her family or contributions may be made in her memory to the charity of choice.
