FARLEY, Iowa - Ambrose J. Neumann, 82, of Farley, died at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church, Placid, with the Rev. Raymond Burkle officiating and Deacon Gerald Koopmann assisting. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Placid. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a wake service at 4:30 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7 p.m.
Mr. Neumann farmed in the Placid, Farley and Bankston areas until his retirement.
He was born on Jan. 30, 1921, in Peosta, son of John and Lorettta (Clemen) Neumann. He married Catherine Manemann on Aug. 28, 1946, at St. Raphael's Cathedral, Dubuque.
He received his education in the Holy Cross and Table Mound area schools.
He was a member of St. John's Parish, Placid, and the Farley Knights of Columbus Council 2001.
Surviving are two sons, LaVerne (Connie) Neumann, of Spring Green, Wis., and Ronnie (Vicky) Neumann, of Potosi, Wis.; three daughters, Darlene (Mike) Kearney, of Dubuque, Loretta "Mickey" (Dave) Wiskus, of New Vienna, and Shirley (Jeff) Turnis, of Bernard; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Silvius (Joyce) Neumann, of Farley; and a sister-in-law, Lorraine Neumann, of New Vienna.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Catherine O. Neumann, on July 29, 1998; and a brother, Francis Neumann.
An Ambrose J. Neumann Memorial Fund has been established for Hospice of Dubuque.
