Mr. Harold F. Kemler, 79, of 1631 Jackson St., died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Roselawn Chapel at Dennis Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Dennis Kitchen Funeral Home, where there will be a St. Mary's Catholic Church Parish Christian wake service at 2 p.m.

Mr. Kemler worked at John Deere Dubuque Works for 26 years, retiring in 1987.

He was born on March 8, 1924, in East Dubuque, Ill., son of Louis and Ida (Risley) Kemler. He married Patricia A. Rapp on April 8, 1948, at St. Raphael's Cathedral, Dubuque.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the United Automobile Workers Union Local 94. He was a devoted volunteer at the Washington Street Tool Library and was a World War II Army veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia A. (Rapp) Kemler; five daughters, Jane Kemler, of Dubuque, Linda (Ron) Jump, of Moline, Ill., Sandra Kemler and Karen (Tom) Shaffer, both of Dubuque, and Connie Kemler, of Gurnee, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Heidi (Chris) Brown, Chrissy (Mark) Besler, Michael and Mac Jump and Kate, Andy and Ben Shaffer; and three sisters, June Ludowitz, Mary "Bootsie" Crimmins and Patsy Thill, all of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.

A Harold F. Kemler Memorial Fund has been established by his family.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Hospice of Dubuque for the tender loving care and concern shown to our family.
