Marie C. Cummer, 82, of 3460 Starlite Drive, Dubuque, formerly of Sherrill, Iowa, died Thursday, April 10, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Balltown, Iowa. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, Dubuque, where there will be a parish scripture wake service at 8 p.m.

She was born on Aug. 15, 1920, daughter of George Sr. and Dorothea (Nauman) Schueller. She was born and raised in Sherrill and attended Ss. Peter and Paul Grade School there.

She married Emmett Cummer on April 22, 1941, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. They then farmed in the Balltown area until the death of Emmett on Dec. 22, 1965. She moved to Dubuque in 2000.

Marie enjoyed cooking, quilting, playing euchre and spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving are her children, Marlene (Melvin) Wilgenbusch and Robert (Donna) Cummer, both of Rickardsville, Iowa, Doris (Dave) Steger, of Dyersville, Iowa, and Terry Cummer, of Davenport, Iowa; 14 grandchildren, Michael (Erin) Wilgenbusch, Lisa (Scott) Nielsen, Kristine (Cory) Bonnett, Kelli (fianc Steve Artley) Wilgenbusch, Todd and Luke Wilgenbusch, Kevin (Brenda) Cummer, Keith and Kenny Cummer, Eric (Dianne) Steger, Ted (Amy) Steger, Jenny (Troy) Osterhaus, Heidi (Adam) McLaughlin and Jacob (friend, Amber Green) Cummer; nine great-grandchildren, Thomas, Riley and Anne Wilgenbusch, Grace and Gabriel Nielsen, Megan and Emily Bonnett and Kaitlyn and Benjamin Steger; a brother, Eldon (Eleanor) Schueller, of Dubuque; a sister, Mildred Meyer, of Dubuque; and sisters-in-law, Marcella and Irene Schueller, both of Dubuque, and Aurelia Jaeger, of Balltown.

She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Norbert, Alfred "Fritz" and George Jr. Schueller; and a sister, Lucille Rolwes.
