Mrs. Robert (Violet G.) Mehl, 86, of Lake Isabella, Calif., formerly of Dubuque, died Thursday, March 6, 2003, in Bakersfield, Calif.

Graveside services were held in the Rose Garden of Kern River Valley Cemetery, Wofford Heights, Calif. The Lake Isabella (Calif.) Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She was born on July 30, 1916, daughter of Arthur and Gertrude Pope.

She was greatly loved by her family and friends.

Surviving are her husband, Robert E. Mehl, of Lake Isabella; a daughter, Sharon (Eugene) Bergeron, of Prescott, Ariz.; two sisters, Darlene Schuster and Carol Johnson, both of Dubuque; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Mehl; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Robert A. Mehl, on April 17, 2000; a sister, Marion Biggs; and a brother, Leon Pope.
