MAHONY

On Wednesday the 3rd inst., after a brief illness Margaret, wife of Dennis A. Mahony.

Deep and poignant is the affliction which has been unexpectedly visited upon our associate, through the dispensation of Divine Providence. The loss of friends is always sufficiently afflictive; but the loss of a wife is an irreparable loss, leaving a sting behind, which is extremely difficult to overcome.

The subject of this brief notice was one of the most amiable of her sex. She was a devoted wife, and an affectionate mother. Purely domestic in her character, she sought her duty in the retirement and pleasures of the family circle. Universally esteemed and loved by her friends and acquaintances. She has been suddenly cut off from life and by an all wise Providence transferred to another and happier sphere.

It should be some consolation to our afflicted associate, to reflect that, what is his and the communities loss, is her gain. Sad is the alternative to us, but bountiful is the recompense to her.
