John J. Milet, 90, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of Assisi Village, Dubuque, and Tinley Park, Ill., died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 11:45 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Orland Park, Ill. Burial will be in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Worth, Ill. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., Dubuque, where there will be a wake service at 7 p.m. Friends also may call from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Sheehy and Sons Funeral Home, Orland Park.

Mr. Milet worked for Bowman Dairy for 30 years and later for the Chicago Board of Education until retirement in 1978.

He was born on Dec. 10, 1912, in Chicago, son of William and Catherine (Coffey) Milet. He married Laverne M. Cooley on Sept. 3, 1938, in Chicago.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Sharon (Jim) Schneider, of Dubuque, and Mrs. Donna (Bob) McLaughlin, of Aurora, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Lauren, Robert and Kerri McLaughlin and Shealah, Timothy, Connie and Jim Jr. Schneider; and two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Courtney Schneider.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Laverne M. Milet, on March 19, 1993; a brother, William; and three sisters, Mary Joslin and Margaret and Katherine Milet.

Memorials may be given to Cystic Fibrosis Association, The Gannon Center and Stonehill Care Center.
