Paula M. Stack, 49, of Denver, formerly of Dubuque, died of cancer Saturday, March 8, 2003.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Denver, where there will be a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa, in summer 2003. The Darrell Howe Mortuary, Lafayette, Colo., and the Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, Dubuque, are in charge of arrangements.

She was born on Sept. 18, 1953, in Dubuque, daughter of Dr. James M. and Orene M. (Cannon) Stack.

She received a Licensed Practical Nurse Certificate from Northeast Area One Vocational Technical School and worked as a nurse in Dubuque and Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

She received a bachelor of arts degree from Loras College, Dubuque, and worked for a number of years as a teacher at St. Mary's in Crown Point, Ind.

She moved from Crown Point to Denver in 1991. She taught at St. Catherine's in Denver until June 2000. She then began teaching junior high for the Jefferson County Public schools through the end of her career.

She was nominated numerous times by her students to "Who's Who of American Teachers." She also was nominated in 1998 to Channel 9 (Denver) "Teachers Who Care" award.

Surviving are her mother, Orene M. Stack; three brothers, Chuck (Judi) Stack, Mike Stack and Jim (Debby) Stack; a sister, Kathy (Fred) Twers; two nieces, Delia and Kamie; two nephews, Jan and Casey; an aunt, Joan Rowe; Rowe cousins; her godmother, Peg Cannon; Cannon cousins; and numerous beloved students and friends.

Memorials may be given to St. Dominic Catholic Church, 3005 W. 29th Ave., Denver, Colo. 80211; Hospice of Boulder and Broomfield Counties, 2594 Trailridge Drive, Suite A, Lafayette, Colo. 80026; and to a charity of your choice in Paula's name.
