Theodore E. "Ted" Heyne Jr., 50, of 2192 Orchard Drive, died Saturday, March 1, 2003, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque, following a brief illness.

Private family graveside services and burial will be Tuesday in Mount Calvary Cemetery, with the Rev. Mark Nemmers officiating. The Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Heyne was a truck driver for many years and enjoyed being on the road. He held other various jobs that allowed him to travel.

He was born on March 18, 1952, in Dubuque, son of Theodore E.Sr., and Virginia (Neuhaus) Heyne.

He enjoyed cooking and preparing food for his family, playing cards, pool and fishing.

Surviving are his mother, Virginia; a sister, Leona "Sis" Becker, of Dubuque; his ex-wife, Patricia Thompson, whom he continued to love and remain close to; two sons, Theodore James "T.J." and Jesse, a daughter, Freedom, a stepson, Michael, and seven grandchildren, all of Colorado; and two special friends, Jim Mess and Rob Meling, who, although for a short time, shared a close friendship.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1968; and a daughter, Jody Kim, in 1972.

A Ted Heyne Memorial Fund has been established and memorials may be sent to Virginia at 2192 Orchard Drive, Dubuque.
