Evelyn D. Vondran, 77, of Palm Bay, Fla., formerly of Dubuque, died at 9:41 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, at Holmes Regional Medical Center, Melbourne, Fla.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, Kennedy Road, with burial in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, south of Dubuque. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She was born on Jan. 21, 1926, in East St. Louis, Ill., daughter of Leslie and Agnes (Montine) Sprague.

She married Joseph Montag in Sept. 1943, they later divorced. She later married Edwin Vondran on April 13, 1985; he died on Nov. 24, 2002.

Evelyn was a homemaker who resided in Dubuque for many years. She was a member of the Dubuque Assembly of God Church and also the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. She has resided in Florida close to her family for the past two years.

Surviving are three sons, Leslie (Myrtle) Montag, of Hoffman Estates, Ill., Larry Montag, of Melbourne, and John (Misty) Montag, of Dubuque; two daughters, Dorothy (John) Morales and Beverly J. (David) Johnson, both of Palm Bay, Fla.; five stepsons, Theodore (Joan) Ferring, of Columbus, Ga., Robert Ferring, of Martinez, Calif., Edward (Linda) Vondran, of Las Vegas, and William Vondran and Joseph (Chris) Vondran, both of Chicago; a brother, Leslie Sprague, of Dubuque; a sister, Sara (Roger) Steil, of Hiawatha, Iowa and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
