Robert D. Sauser, 46, of 19190 York Road, East Dubuque, Ill., formerly of Dubuque, died at 7:20 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, at home, surrounded by his family and friends.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Dubuque. Entombment will be in Resurrection Garden Mausoleum at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Dubuque. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the church, where there will be a parish wake service at 4:30 p.m. The Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., Dubuque, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Sauser worked as a park ranger at Maquoketa Caves and in animal control for Jo Daviess County. He was a self-employed mechanic for many years.

He was born on Dec. 19, 1956, in Dubuque, son of Robert G. and Leona M. (Menadue) Sauser.

He attended Hempstead High School and two years at Kirkwood Community College studying horticulture.

Bob enjoyed trout fishing, boating, carpentry and buying and selling antiques. He loved all animals.

Surviving are a daughter, Vanessa E. Sauser, of East Dubuque; his mother, Leona M. Sauser, of Dubuque; a sister, Mary L. Sauser, of Dubuque; five brothers, Greg R. Sauser, of Glen Burnie, Md., Gary J. Sauser, of St. Catherine, Iowa, Randy J. Sauser and Douglas C. Sauser, both of Dubuque, and Shawn A. (Sandy) Sauser, of Peosta, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, John A. Sauser, in infancy.
