Bennie Evans Stoneking, 87, of Moline, formerly of Dubuque, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, at ManorCare Health Services, Davenport.

Services will be at noon Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, Ill. Graveside services and burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Dubuque Memorial Gardens, south of Dubuque. Friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where Masonic services will held.

Mr. Stoneking retired from John Deere Dubuque Works in 1975, after more than 30 years of service.

He was born on Nov. 6, 1915, in Macomb, Ill., son of Jess and Ada (Wingo) Stoneking.

He married Ila Young in July 1935, in Macomb. He later married Ceresa Brown on Feb. 17, 1951, in Davenport, Bennie and Ceresa had just celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary.

He had been very active in the Masons over the years. He enjoyed bowling, riding motorcycles and feeding animals.

Surviving are his wife, Ceresa Stoneking, of Moline; daughters and son-in-law, Kathleen and Vaughn Cooper, of Rantoul, Ill., Jacqueline Zook, of Bushnell, Ill., son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Sandra Stoneking, of Iola, Kan.; 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, eight sisters and four brothers.

Memorials may be made to the family.
