MRS. WHITNEY B. (Mae J. Tegeler) WEDDINGTON

DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Mae J. Weddington, 82, of 1177 7th St. SW, Dyersville, died at 12:05 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dyersville, following a sudden illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Edward Petty officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Dyersville. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m., and a Catholic Daughters of the Americas rosary at 4:30 p.m.

Mrs. Weddington worked as a secretary for Osterhaus Construction, Dyersville. She was employed in a defense plant during World War II. She then moved to New Orleans, and worked on the Mardi Gras floats for many years.

She was born on Nov. 25, 1920, in Dyersville, daughter of Raymond and Clara (Claus) Tegeler. She graduated from the former St. Francis Xavier High School, Dyersville.

On June 28, 1952, she was united in marriage to Whitney B. Weddington in Glenwood, Iowa. The couple moved to Omaha, Neb. They bought and operated Gateway Technical School in Omaha. Mr. Weddington preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 1992.

She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish, Dyersville. She also was a member of the Dyersville Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. Rose Court 350. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are a stepdaughter, Karen Marriott, of Adrian, Mich.; 10 step-grandchildren and 16 step-great-grandchildren; a brother, William (Janis) Tegeler, of Des Moines; three nephews, Jeff Tegeler, of St. Paul, Minn., and Bob and Jim Tegeler, both of Des Moines; and two stepdaughters-in-law, Ann Weddington, of Lincoln, Neb., and Mary Lou Mick, of Omaha.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; two stepsons, Dr. Donald B. Weddington and William C. Weddington; and a step-grandchild.

Memorials may be given to St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, in memory of Mae.
