DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Marie J. Meyer, 95, of South San Francisco, formerly of Dyersville, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, at Peninsula Hospital, Burlingame, Calif., after a short illness.

Burial of the cremated remains will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at St. Francis Cemetery, Dyersville. Friends may call after noon Friday, Aug. 15, at St. Francis Cemetery Chapel. The Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on July 15, 1907, in Dubuque, daughter of John and Johanna (Burkhart) Wieser.

She worked at Medical Associates Clinic as a medical clerk until she married Elmer Meyer on June 26, 1934, in Dubuque. She was a homemaker while Elmer was co-owner of Meyers Tavern in Dyersville until 1970.

She liked to sing, and as she grew older her two favorite songs were "The Old Gray Mare She Ain't What She Used to Be" and "I'm Heading for the Last Roundup." In Dyersville, she liked nothing better than meeting her friends at "Dick's" for an afternoon beer.

Surviving are a son, John P. (Terry) Meyer, of Hillsborough, Calif.; four grandchildren, Joan, Peter, Jenny and Robert; and a step-brother, Jim Wieser, of San Leandro, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, in 1972; and a son, Billy, in 1938.
