ANGELETA M. "Angie" JOHNSON

Angeleta M. “Angie” Johnson, 77, of the Dubuque Nursing and Rehab Center, 2935 Kaufmann Ave., formerly of 1850 Ellis St., and Galena, Ill., died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at the center.

Services will be at 8 p.m. today at Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena, where friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today. Burial of the cremated remains will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Galena.

She was born on Feb. 1, 1925, in Dyersville, Iowa, daughter of William P. and Alta (Gerhart) Kern.

She was a cook at the former Demetri’s Restaurant, Cavalier Restaurant and Silver Dollar Cantina. She then went to work at The Finley Hospital cafeteria, retiring in 1988. She was a member of the Women of the Moose 850, Dubuque.

Surviving are a sister, Wilma Reitinger, of Greensboro, N.C.; three brothers, Edmund (Armilla) Kern, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Howard (Helen) Kern and Delbert (Beverly) Kern, both of Galena; many nieces and nephews; and three special friends, Donna and Genny Ginter, and Mary Kay Leytem.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents; five brothers, George, Joseph, Carl, LeRoy and Hilbert; and a brother-in-law, Lester Reitinger.
