Estelle E. (Rettenmeir) Nicks 1905-1996

Estelle E. Nicks, 91, of Ennoble Manor Care Center, formerly of 831 Alpine St., died at 9:25 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 1996, at the care center.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Nativity Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. There will be no visitation. The Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Nicks was formerly employed at the former H. B. Glover Co. and Frommelt Industries.

She was born on March 17, 1905, in Dubuque, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Kessler) Rettenmeir. She married Donald J. Nicks on Aug. 23, 1947, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dubuque.

She was a member of Nativity Catholic Church and its rosary society. Estelle formerly enjoyed bowling and was a long time member of the Dubuque Women’s Bowling Association.

Surviving are a sister, Ellen Walter, of Dubuque, and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. Nicks, on Sept 11, 1981; a sister, Gen Leytem; three brothers, John, Fred, and Clarence Rettenmeir.
