Austin Lee Benson

Austin Lee Benson, 11, of Dubuque, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, following a long illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg, with the Rev. Penny Hansel officiating. Burial will be in the Tuecke Cemetery, rural Guttenberg, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He was born on July 11, 1997, in Dubuque, son of Melissa Benson and Jason Benson.

Austin was a student at Lincoln School, Dubuque.

Surviving are his mother, Melissa Benson, of Dubuque; his father, Jason (Maria Margarita Perez Montes) Benson; maternal grandparents, Don and Pam Tuecke, of Dubuque; paternal grandmother, Gail Benson, of Galena, Ill.; paternal grandfather, Eugene Benson, Galena; great-grandmother, Betty Tuecke, of McGregor, Iowa; great-grandmother, Lillian "Cub" Handke, of Guttenberg; great-grandparents, Helen and Francis Schoenfeld, of Galena; special cousin, Kristine Tuecke; uncle and aunts, Todd and Karen Tuecke, of Dubuque, Shawn Benson, of Janesville, Wis., and Cheri Bower, of Freeport, Ill.; and many friends.
