Roger A. Fangman

Roger A. Fangman, 78, of 1290 Kane St., died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at Luther Manor.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, south of Dubuque, where military rites will be accorded by American Legion, Dubuque Post 6. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m.

Mr. Fangman worked at John Deere Dubuque Works until his retirement in September of 1987, after 28 years of service. He later was a tour ambassador at John Deere.

He was born on Oct. 23, 1929, in Dubuque, son of Aloysius and Ottilia (Roth) Fangman. He married Mary E. Duehr on Oct. 8, 1955, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Dubuque.

He served in the Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954.

Roger was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 94, the American Legion, Dubuque Post 6, the Dubuque Eagles Club and was a longtime member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mary E. Fangman; two sons, Bob and Terry Fangman, of Dubuque; a daughter, Debbie (Terry) Tomkins, of Dubuque; two grandchildren, Nicole and Nathan Tomkins, both of Dubuque; and a brother, Charles (Jackie) Fangman, of Peoria, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marion (Jim) Slowey.

A Roger Fangman Memorial Fund has been established.
