PETER N. NICKS

Peter N. Nicks, 73, 176 ALpine St. died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at mercy Hospital after an illness of a month.

Friends may call after 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hoffman Mortuary. Services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday to Church of the Nativity. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

The Rosary will be recited at the mortuary by the following groups: Rosary Confraternity of Nativity parish at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday; St. Aloysius SOciety at 8 p.m.Thursday; and the Ladies Catholic Benevolent Society at 7:15 p.m. Thursday.

Mr. Nicks was born Aug. 3, 1881 in Dubuque and had lived here all his life. He was business manager of the Oakland Dairy for many years and also operated the Nicks Insurance Agency.

Of the Catholic Faith, he attended Church of the Nativity and belonged to the Rosary Confraternity, St. Aloysius Society, Marquette Court of the Catholic Order of Foresters, and St. Voncent de Paul Society. He was a charter member of the Dubuque Elks Lodge.

He married Elizabeth (Ella) ?fiffner on May 8, 1913, at St Mary's Church.

Surviving are his wife; his mother, Mrs. Mary Nicks, Dubuque; two daughters, Mrs. Jeannette Nicks Valenti, Dubuque, and Mrs. Howard (Catherine) Butler, Hazelhurst, Wis.; seven grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. A. M. (Josephine) Conzett, Dubuque, and one brother, Grover A. Nicks, Milwaukee, Wis. He was preceded by his father Nicholas P Nicks.
