Delores C. Weydert

PEOSTA, Iowa -- Delores C. Weydert, 94, of 9946 Cox Springs Road, Peosta, died peacefully at 9:35 p.m. while surrounded by her family Friday, March 21, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, at St. John the Baptist Church, Peosta, with the Rev. Richard Kuhn officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m. Friends also may call after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

She was born on Nov. 12, 1913, in Farley, daughter of Joseph E. and Mary (Klocker) Kelchen. She received her education in the Farley area schools.

She married Elmer C. Weydert on April 6, 1937, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley; he preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 1998. The couple farmed in the Peosta area until their retirement.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Parish, Peosta, and a member of its Altar and Rosary Society.

Surviving are six daughters, Elaine (John) Tracey, Lois (Allen) Laughlin and Joyce (Irwin) Horsfield, all of Epworth, Janet (Ronald) Pitz, of Peosta, Marilyn (John) Kettmann, of Bellevue, and Marlene Kramer, of Farley; seven sons, James (Donna) Weydert, of Peosta, Jack (Jeanne) Weydert, of Dubuque, Tom (Donna) Weydert, of Farley, Dave (Judi) Weydert, Jerome (Marty) Weydert and Joe (Kathy) Weydert, all of Dubuque, and Bill (Janice) Weydert, of Peosta; 50 grandchildren; 80 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lucille Till, of Cascade, Helen Koppes, of Monmouth, Ella Gross, of Cascade, and Mary Ostwinkle, of Epworth; two sisters-in-law, Rachel Kelchen, of Dyersville, and Lucille Kelchen, of Farley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gery Weydert, on Sept. 28, 1980; a son-in-law, Lloyd Kramer; three brothers, Eddie, Ray and Joe Kelchen; and four sisters, Marcella Greenwood, Coletta Feiler, Alvina Kelchen and Norine Turnis.

The family of Delores would like to thank the staff at Mercy Medical Center-3 West, Hospice of Dubuque and Oak Park Place for all the wonderful care and kindness given to Delores.
