Amy L. Kienzle, 83, of 2700 Matthew John Drive, died March 17, 2008, at Dubuque Nursing & Rehab Center.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at St. Luke's Methodist Church, Dubuque. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena, Ill. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home, 1185 Route 35 North, East Dubuque, Ill., and after 1:15 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at the church.

She was born on Sept. 23, 1924, in Dubuque, daughter of Ernest and Emma (Rosencrance) Johnston. She attended Senior High School.

She married Raymond Kienzle of Scales Mound, Ill., on Aug. 25, 1946, at Grandview Methodist Church. Together they farmed in Council Hill Township, Ill., for 40 years.

Amy was a charter member of Hills Home Extension of Jo Daviess County, Ill. She also was a member of the United Methodist Church, Galena and taught Sunday school for a number of years. She took part in the WSCS of the church and was an election judge of the Council Hill precinct.

In 1986, Amy and her husband moved to Winter Garden, Fla., where she was a member of the Winter Garden Methodist Church and taught Sunday school for a number of years. She was an election judge at the Winter Garden precinct and volunteered for Christian Services.

After retiring to Florida, Amy and her husband did a lot of traveling. She loved visiting her children and grandchildren. She loved flowers and had a beautiful rose garden. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was famous for her homemade bread.

In March 2006, they moved to Dubuque Retirement Community to be close to family due to health problems.

Surviving are her husband, Ray; five children, Pamela Jenn, of Marietta, Ga., Linda (Rodger) Lamont, of Oshkosh, Wis., Janel (Steve) Geisert, of Galena, William (Lisa) Kienzle, of Chatham, Ill., and Kevin (friend, Julene Coates) Kienzle, of Dubuque; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, with a 5th grandchild due in June; and a niece, Diane (Donald) Latham, of The Villages, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary; and a brother, Ernest E. Johnston, Jr.
