WORTHINGTON, Iowa -- William H. "Bill" Schockemoehl, 74, of Worthington, died at 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2008, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 17, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Worthington, with the Rev. Donald Hertges officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Worthington. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, 490 Field of Dreams Way, Dyersville, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m.

He was born on Nov. 4, 1933, in Worthington, son of Frank and Ida (Greif) Schockemoehl. He was a graduate of the former St. Paul's School in Worthington.

He married Magdalen (Kronlage) Wolfe on Feb. 22, 1966, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Worthington; she preceded him in death on Jan. 17, 2004.

William farmed on the family farm in rural Worthington for over 20 years and was later employed at John Deere Dubuque Works until his retirement on Nov. 28, 1995.

He was a member of St. Paul's Parish in Worthington, and United Auto Workers Union.

Surviving are his five children, Loras (Susan) Wolfe, of Worthington, John "Jack" (Sharon) Wolfe, of Farley, Jan (Harry) Soppe, of Bedford, Texas, Ellen (Ron) Hartman, of Dubuque, and Geri (Frank) Boesen, of Des Moines; 16 grandchildren, Paula (Curt) Lammers, Lisa (Ted) Snitker, Dana (Rich) Schmidt, Jason (Peggy) Wolfe, Aaron (Megan) Wolfe, Joe Wolfe, Jeff (Michelle) Wolfe, Angie Wolfe, Matt Wolfe, Michele (Tim) Stopper, Clint (Carrie) Soppe, Travis (Channan) Soppe, Greg Hartman, Brian Hartman, Holly Hartman, Ben Boesen; 15 great-grandchildren, Madison, Mitchell and Lincoln Snitker, Magdalen, Ezekiel "Zeke" and Zoey Schmidt, Landon, Cael, Mack and Cooper Wolfe, Owen Wolfe, Olivia and Georgia Wolfe, and Ryan and Lauren Stopper; two sisters, Rachel Kelchen, of Dyersville, and Grace (Marvin) Henrichs, of Ryan; a brother-in-law, Stanley (Pat) Holub, of Coggan; and a sister-in-law, Florence Schockemoehl, of Cascade.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Laura Schockemoehl, Lavern Holub, Marion Radloff, Stella Comer, and Harriet Knepper; a brother, Harry Schockemoehl; and four brothers-in-law, Nick Radloff, Sam Knepper, Ray Kelchen and Joe Comer.
