CASCADE, Iowa --Patrick J. Coyle, 53, of Cascade, passed into eternal life Wednesday, March 12, 2008.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at St. John's Parish, Placid, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4 p.m., and the Farley American Legion Auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m.

He was born on May 24, 1954, son of Bob and Lavonne (Riniker) Coyle, of Epworth. He married Carol Sweeney on Aug. 27, 1977, in Farley. They resided in Cascade and farmed in the Scotch Grove/Canton area for many years.

He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, as his family was his life. Pat was a true American farmer, giving more to life than he expected in return.

Pat loved to socialize and reminisce with his family and many friends and often would be caught saying, "Be good," "Watch the roads," "Keep the faith," among other bits of unwanted or wanted advice as you headed out the door.

Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Carol; his two sons, Chad (Renee) and Luke (special friend, Katie Stoll), of Cascade; and his three daughters, Kelly (Ben) Kramer, of Epworth, Kristi (Matt) Strief, of Farley, and Jacque (special friend, Jake Kelchen), of Cascade; his four grandchildren, Nicole, Allie and Logan Kramer, and Nolan Strief, as well as a fifth grandchild expected in September; his parents, Bob and Lavonne Coyle, of Epworth; five brothers, Tom "Skinny" (Linda), Dave "Bink" (Bonnie), Charlie (Ann), all of Epworth, Dennis "Hook," of Amana, and Hugh (Vicky), of Farley; four sisters, Linda (Rick) Boffeli, Sarah (John) Fine, Karen (Joe) Young and Kathy (special friend, Jim) McDermott, all of Epworth; his mother and father-in-law, James "Dick" and Lois Sweeney, of Farley; seven sisters- and brothers-in-law, Sue (Jim) Kraus, Karen (Keith) Neyen, Jim "JR" (Jodi) Sweeney, all of Farley, Marge (Rick) Gansemer, of Rickardsville, Jane (Ron) Deutmeyer, Nancy (Brian) Schlueter and Barb Sweeney, all of Dyersville; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy; and grandparents, Chick and Catherine Coyle, Mike Hall, Evelyn and Aloysius Riniker.
