Ronald R. "Bun" Fleege, 88, of ManorCare Health Services, formerly of 2825 Washington St. and Galena, Ill., died at 6:45 a.m. Sunday, March 9, 2008, at ManorCare.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 14, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St. Entombment will be in Resurrection Garden Mausoleum at Mount Calvary Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 6. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at the funeral home.

He was born Nov. 12, 1919, in Thorp, Wis., son of August and Caroline (Ripperda) Fleege. He married Geraldine L. Kohnen on Sept. 4, 1946, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church.

Ronald served in the Army in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatres during World War II.

He worked as a carpenter and was a member of the Carpenter's Union 678.

He enjoyed playing euchre and was an avid camper. He enjoyed being a Webelos Scout Master (even more than Mike did!).

He will be greatly missed by his family and greeted by his faithful dogs, Rusty and Babe.

Surviving are his wife, Geraldine L. "Squirt," at home; two daughters, Sandy K. Dodson and Donna J. (Roger) Pfeiler, both of Dubuque; a son, Michael R. Fleege, of Peosta; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Dalton "Del" Fleege, of Waupaca, Wis.; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Lillian Puls, Melita Schroeder, Edna Busch and Olive Bauer; and a brother, Laverne "Chub" Fleege.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of ManorCare for their loving care and concern for Ron these past nine years.
