Kathryn M. Holz, 92, of 1790 S. Grandview Ave., died Monday, March 10, 2008, at ManorCare Health Services.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, at St. Raphael's Cathedral. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, where there will be a parish scripture wake service recited at 6:30 p.m.

She was born on May 9,1915, in Dubuque, daughter of Frank and Josephine (Scherrer) Zahina. She graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy in 1932.

In her younger years, Kathryn worked at Glover's Factory and was a professional pianist.

She married Louis M. Holz on May 7, 1941, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church.

Kathryn was a wonderful homemaker and also stayed active in her music. She was involved in the St. Columbkille's choir for many years and also sang and danced with the Flora Doras and The Hot Shots. She enjoyed sewing, needlepoint and playing bingo.

Surviving are her husband, Louis, of Dubuque; her three sons, Donald (Dianne) Holz, Paul Holz and James Holz, all of Dubuque; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Lucille (Vincent) Chewning; and her two brothers and sisters-in-law, Clarence (Mary) Zahina and Frederick (Agnes) Zahina.
