Ione C. (Bernard) Baule

Ione C. (Bernard) Baule, 79, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of 705 Garfield Ave., died at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at Stonehill Care Center, surrounded by her family, after a short and courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 10, at Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, where scripture service will be at 6:30 p.m.

She was born on Nov. 2, 1928, in Dubuque, daughter of Anton and Gladys (Holmes) Bernhard. She married Joseph Baule on Dec. 23, 1948.

Ione was a member of Sacred Heart Parish.

Surviving are her children, Andrew (Pam) Baule, of Waukesha, Wis., Joanne Touney (friend, Jim Kean), Sue (Dane) Steiner, Robert (friend, Wendy Wagar) Baule and Timothy (Rhonda) Baule, all of Dubuque; 10 grandchildren, Anthony and Amanda Baule, Dawn (Jamie) Kremer, Tammy (Mike Spautz), Tina (Bill) Vickerman, Mark and Samantha (fiancee, Mike Schmidt) Steiner, Allison Baule, T. J. Baule; four great-grandchildren, Kayla and Andy Birch, Cassie Vaassen and Brandon Kremer; and a sister, Helen Czipar, of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Kathleen Jellison; two brothers, Mark and Kenneth Bernard; and two sisters, Gladys Mae Bernhard and Marie Long.

The family would like to thank the staff at Stonehill Care Center and Hospice of Dubuque for the special care given to Ione.
