Carl J. Meyer, 54, formerly of Knoxville, Iowa, died Wednesday, March 5, at Veteran's Central Iowa Health Care System, Des Moines, Iowa.

Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 7, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 6. There will be no public visitation. Hoffmann Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., is in charge of arrangements.

Carl was born Jan. 14, 1954, in Chicago, son, of Irvin J. and Rita C. (Gottmann) Meyer.

He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a former member of Sacred Heart parish.

Surviving are his mother, Rita C. Meyer, of Dubuque; two brothers, Irvin J. (Kay) Meyer, of Niles, Ill., and Paul A. (Sandy) Meyer, of Dubuque, two sisters, Barbara Ann Meyer (Arnie Strand), of Lancaster, Calif., and Rita T. (Mike) Henry, of Des Moines; nieces and nephews, and one great niece.

He was preceded in death by his father, one nephew, Aaron Mintrup and one niece, Amy Henry.
