Marjorie L. Vallet
Marjorie L. Vallet, 94, of Dubuque, formerly of Naples, Fla., died Monday, March 3, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road.
She was born on June 23, 1913, in Manchester, daughter of Edward and Heddy (Spare) Putnam.
She graduated from Manchester High School in Manchester and from nursing school at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago.
She married George Vallet on April 11, 1935, in Chicago. They founded and operated Vallet Poultry in Sabula, Iowa. They later moved the company to Dubuque, retiring in the early 1970's and moving to Naples, Fla. They moved back to Dubuque in the early 1990s, living at Coventry Park; he preceded her in death on July 28, 2000.
She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, sewing and cross stitching.
Surviving are two sons, George (Joyce) Vallet, of Bonita Springs, Fla. and James (Susan) Vallet, of Naples, Fla.; four grandchildren; Jennifer (Jay) Bartle, of Blaine, Minn., Mark (Sarah) Vallet, of Aukland, New Zealand, and James Vallet Jr. and Michelle (Omar Garcia) Vallet, both of Chicago; four great-grandchildren, Alexander and Henry Bartle, Sabine Garcia and Katie Vallet.
She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Bob Putnam; and a sister, Mary Ortberg.
