Genevieve H. "Gen" Stephenson, 89, of 1508 Drexel St., died at 4:15 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tues-day, March 4. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, south of Dubuque.

She was born on April 27, 1918, in Dubuque, daughter of Fred and Beulah (Hoosier) Hoag.

She married Vincent A. Stephenson on Sept. 25, 1937, in Dubuque; he preceded her in death on May 25, 1986.

Gen was formerly employed at the Battery Factory and later in housekeeping at Loras College.

She greatly enjoyed the companionship of her cat, Bandy. She also enjoyed camping and fishing and playing cards and Bunko with her family. In her earlier days, she enjoyed doing yard work, gardening and canning.

Surviving are a daughter, Darlene B. (Kenny) Moore, of Galena, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Terri (Terry) Mulgrew, Dawn (Tim) Muir, Kenny (Joyce) Moore, Clint (Theresa) Moore and Troy (Shelley) Moore, all of East Dubuque, Ill., Scott Moore, of Rickardsville, Iowa, and Travis (Kim) Moore, of East Dubuque; 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Virgil Hoag, of Dubuque; and nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by two sisters, in infancy; and a brother and his wife, Frederick and Maxine Hoag.
