SHERRILL, Iowa -- Mrs. Kenneth O. (Linda A.) Bauer Sr., 56, of 39537 Waupeton Road, Sherrill, passed away suddenly at 8:15 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque, and was finally reunited with her baby boy, Wayne.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Sherrill. Burial will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Sherrill. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 29, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish wake service at 4 p.m.

Mrs. Bauer worked as a seamstress at Flexsteel Industries Inc. for 29 years until her retirement.

She was born on Aug. 14, 1951, in Dubuque, daughter of Gilbert and Norma (Wisenberg) Brimeyer. Linda attended school in Sherrill and was a 1969 graduate of Wahlert High School in Dubuque.

She married Kenneth O. Bauer on June 2, 1973, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in North Buena Vista.

She enjoyed sewing, making many clothes and baby blankets. She was a "shopper" and could easily spend a day in the stores. Linda devoted her life to helping other people, and as an organ donor, she gave other families hope, and now her spirit lives on.

Linda was the best wife and mother in the world and her greatest joy was being a grandmother.

Surviving are her husband of 35 years, Kenneth O. Bauer Sr., of Sherrill; five children, Kenneth O. (Tara) Bauer Jr., of Potosi, Wis., Heidi L. (Tim) Brown, of Ames, Christopher J. (Michelle) Bauer, of Waterloo, Patrick J. Bauer, of Dubuque, and Jessica L. Bauer, of Sherrill; six grandchildren, Trenton, Christian, Nelson, Mykaylia and Damian Bauer, Braxtyn "Sweet Pea" Brown and another little angel coming this summer; her mother, Norma Brimeyer, of Sherrill; seven siblings, Janice (Eugene) Baxter, of Dubuque, Mary Brimeyer (Al Steve), of Rickardsville, Reynold Brimeyer, of Sherrill, and Karen (Russ) Duve, Elaine Fortman (Mike Smith), John Brimeyer, and Allan (Stephanee) Brimeyer, all of Dubuque; her mother-in-law, Althea Freiburger, of Dubuque; her in-laws, Leon (Donna) Bauer, Francis (Brenda) Bauer, Linda (Ted) Hogan, Julie Johnson, John (Pat) Bauer, Ed (Ann) Bauer, Mary Jane (Dan) Jacobson, Laura Bauer (Tony King), Andy (Pam) Bauer and Tim (Dawn) Bauer; her best friend, Julie Kunuo, of St. Donatus; and her "protector" -- her dog, Brutus.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gilbert Brimeyer; her baby boy Wayne, in 1980; her father-in-law, Joseph Bauer; and her stepfather-in-law, Merlin Freiburger.

The family wishes to extend a heart-felt thank-you to Dr. Thomas Sinsky and the doctors, nurses and emergency room staff at Mercy who took such great care of Linda and her family. A special thank-you also to Dr. Sam Sullivan for his care and concern for Linda. We want to thank the Iowa Donor Network team, Katherine, Robert, Becky and especially Sam for the kindness, compassion and support they extended to our family.
