Milton L. Wieser

LANSING, Iowa -- Milton Lester Wieser, 75, of Lansing, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at the Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, following a brief illness.

A memorial gathering will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. today at Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home, Lansing.

He was born on May 28, 1932, in Dubuque, son of Charles and Alice (Kroma) Wieser. As a child, Milton lived in Solon and then the family moved back to Dubuque. After high school, he enlisted in the Navy and served during the Korean and Vietnam wars, dedicating 33 years to the Navy.

He married Ella Lois Ansbaw Cripe on Aug. 10, 1979, in Dubuque.

Milton was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him.

Surviving are his wife, Ella, of Lansing; children, Sandra (Michael) Holl, of Graf, Daniel (Susan) Cripe, of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Gary Cripe and Raymond Cripe, both of Mesa, Ariz., Richard (Corrinna) Cripe, of Zephyrhills, Fla., Kathleen (Michael) Krousie, of Monona, and James Thomas (Donna) Cripe, of New Paris, Ind.; sisters, Dorothy Keith, of Peosta, and Loretta Miller, of Solon; 24 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Timothy Cripe; six brothers, Cletus, Charlie, Maurice, Wilfred, Francis and twin brother, Melvin; and two sisters, Mary Nolan and Irene Loanjers.
