Lois I. Barud

Lois I. Barud, 75, of 3431 Daniels St., died Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Nativity Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Adelbert Cemetery, Niles, Ill. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road.

She was born Nov. 13, 1932, in Albuquerque, N.M., daughter of William and Catherine (O'Brien) Templeton. Lois received her bachelor of arts in education from Luther College, Decorah, Iowa, in 1971.

On Aug. 8, 1953, she married Edward Barud in Denver, Colo. The two have resided in Dubuque since 1973.

Lois was a school teacher for Western Dubuque Community Schools in Epworth. She retired in 1985.

Lois lived for her family. She enjoyed reading, gardening and loved her pets.

Surviving are her husband; Edward, of Dubuque; her children, Janet (James) Gastineau, of Urbandale, Iowa; Kathrynne Barud, of Rochester, Minn., Joan (Daniel) Shannon, of Guttenberg, Iowa, John (Judy) Barud, of Collinsville, Ill., and Edward (Kathy) Barud, of Littleton, Colo.; her grandchildren, Lisa Parkhurst, David and Jennifer Barud, Stephanie, Benjamin (Ashley) and Patrick Barud, Kathleen, Molly, Patrick and Jack Shannon, Andrew and Sarah Gastineau; her great-grandchildren, Emilie Gench, Daniel and Gabriel Gonzales; her brother; John Clark, of Olathe, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Koch; a grandson, Cpl. Stephen D. Shannon; and a granddaughter, Laura Gastineau
