Rita A Capesius

Rita A. Capesius, 87, of 2000 Pasadena Drive, formerly of La Motte, Iowa, died at 11:40 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Key West, Iowa, with the Rev. Mark Nemmers officiating. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, La Motte. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, Dubuque, where there will be a wake service at 7 p.m.

She was born on April 10, 1920, in Dubuque, daughter of Anton and Mary (Holt) Weber. She married Merlin E. Capesius on Dec. 30, 1941, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on July 22, 2006. Together they owned and operated Capesius Appliance & Hardware Store in La Motte.

She was a member of Holy Rosary Parish and the rosary society, in La Motte.

Surviving are her six children, Merlin Capesius Jr. and James (Mary) Capesius, both of Bettendorf, Iowa, Carol (Richard) Watters, of Davenport, Iowa, Sharon (Steve) Schumacher, of Hazel Green, Wis., Sue (Tim) Flogel, of La Motte and Barb (Dan) Gleason, of Kieler, Wis.; 21 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Kenneth; a daughter, Mary Jo; three grandchildren, Mary Ann, Sharon, and Robert; and three brothers, Arthur, Donald and Arnold.
