FARLEY, Iowa -- Marjorie A Saeugling, 74, of 106 7th Ave NE, Farley, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at her home, following a long illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating and the Rev. John Ptacek, the Rev. Paul Ouderkirk, and the Rev. Gabriel Anderson concelebrating and Assisting Deacon will be Ted Kocel. Burial will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Farley. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m., Friday at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a wake service at 2 p.m.

Marjorie was employed at Caradco in Dubuque, and later at the Ertl Co. in Dyersville.

She was born on April 13, 1933, in Peosta, daughter of Alphonse and Catherine (Cleary) Schwendinger. She received her education in the Peosta area schools.

She married Donald B. Saeugling on Sept. 2, 1950, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Peosta; he preceded her in death on Aug. 4, 1993.

Marjorie and Don spent many hours working together making woodwork for their children, grandchildren, family and friends -- barns and machine sheds for the grandsons, and doll houses for the granddaughters, and trinket boxes for the grandkids to keep their special things in. Marjorie also made a quilt for each of their children and all the grandkids. These are the special gifts that will be cherished forever.

Marjorie was a member of the Mother Angelica's EWTN Lay Ministry of Dubuque. She had the privilege to present a quilt she made to Mother Angelica on one of her visits to Henceville, Ala. Marjorie also was a member of the Living Waters Prayer Group in Farley for many years and a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Farley.

Marjorie was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Surviving are five children, Karen A. Hunt, of Farley, and her children, Kristie (special friend, Kevin Settle), Kenny and Kevin Hunt, Donald W. (Deb) Saeugling, of Bernard, and his children, Barb, Donny and Cathy, Susan (Leon) Trenkamp, of Worthington, and their children, Rachel (Clint) Hanson, their children (Gavin and Cole), Nathan, Logan, Sarah, and Cecelia Trenkamp, Judy (Todd) Ames, of Monona, and Pete (Tracy) Saeugling, of La Motte, and son, Nicholas; seven siblings, Virginia McGoven, of Overland Park, Kan., Kathleen McKillip, of Cassville, Wis., Rosemary (Roy) Weydert, of Winthrop, Anthony Schwendinger, of Michigan, Donald Schwendinger, of Seneca, Wis., John (Jean) Schwendinger, of Dubuque, and Jim Schwendinger of, Lancaster, Wis.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rosie Day, of Milwaukee, Pat (Marv) Mesch, of Louiseville, Ky., Jean Wiederhold, of Cuba City, Wis., Sandy McPhail, Millie Carney and Rollie (LaVerna) Saeugling, all of Cedar Raids, Robert (Janice) Saeugling, of Dubuque, Paul Saeugling, of Phoenix, and Jim Saeugling, of Marshalltown; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews; and special friends, Shelli and Dave Thalacker, Gracie and Emma.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; her mother and father-in-law, Harold and Cecelia (Petsche) Saeugling Sr.; a granddaughter, Maria Trenkamp; a brother, Bob (Dorothy) Schwendinger; brothers and sisters-in-laws, John McKillip, Fred McGovern, Frank Day, Joe, Eugene, Harry, Joan and Selma Saeugling, and Janet Mesch.

A special thank-you to Karen for all the care she gave mom. Kristie, Kenny and Kevin for all the hours they sat with grandma. Also to all the relatives, neighbors and friends who came and sat and visited with Marjorie, and also to the staff from Home Instead, the doctors and staff at Mercy in Dyersville in Respite, the staff of Hospice of Dubuque, especially Edna and Sheila, and to Dr. Sullivan. Thank you for all of your kindness shown to Marjorie and her family. It will never be forgotten.
