Larry E. Nauman

CASCADE, Iowa -- Lawrence E. Nauman, 82, of 508 Second Ave. S.W., Cascade, died at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008, at home.

Services for will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Cascade, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cascade.

Friends may call from 1:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade, where the wake service will be held at 1:30 p.m., and the Knights of Columbus will say the rosary at 7 p.m.

He was born Dec. 27, 1925, in Sherrill, son of Jacob and Edwina (Koltes) Nauman. He received his education in the Cedar Ridge rural country school. On Sept. 7, 1954, he married Jean Kraus at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Sherrill.

Larry was a hog buyer for the former Dubuque Packing Co. He was also employed at St. Mary's Parish, Cascade, and the Cascade Sale Barn. He was an Army veteran, having served in Korea. He received the Purple Heart.

He was a member of St. Matthias Parish, Cascade, Cascade American Legion Post 528, and the Cascade Knights of Columbus Council No. 930.

Larry had a great love for his family, the Cascade community, baseball and gardening.

Surviving are his wife, Jean Nauman, of Cascade; 12 children, Patty (Mike) O'Hollearn, of New Hampton, David (Sue) Nauman, of Mason City, Laura (Mike) Glynn, of Dubuque, Jane (Tim) Donovan, of Cascade, Judy (Dave) Brimeyer, of Cedar Rapids, Joann (Ray) O'Connell, of Zwingle, Sue (John) Umhoefer, of North Mankato, Minn., Joseph (Laura) Nauman, of Coggan, Amy (Tim) Funke, of Dyersville, Matthew (Tammy) Nauman, of Cascade, Jacob (Heidi) Nauman, of Cedar Rapids, Carrie (Tim) Sery, of Burnsville, Minn.; 22 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Irma Kintzle, of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
