Jan Mary (Schadle) Kaune, 51, of Coupland, Texas, formerly of Dubuque, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, as the result of an automobile accident in Coupland.

Memorial services celebrating Jan's life will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where friends may call after 2 p.m. Following cremation, private family committal services will be held in the spring in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Jan most recently worked as an accounting specialist at Littlefield Corporation in Austin, Texas, for three years.

Jan and Brant operated Kaune Line Farms for several years and she was a mainstay at the Austin Farmers Market on Saturdays, where customers would line up hours in advance to buy her chicken and duck eggs and other organic produce. Jan's duck eggs were highly sought by people having autistic loved ones. After Brant's death on July 28, 2006, Jan took solace in caring for her horses and pets and always considered her animals as family members.
