Albert J. Roidl

Albert J. Roidl, 94, of Stonehill Care Center, died at 5:15 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at noon Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. There will be no public visitation. The Behr Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was born on Jan. 11, 1914, in Dubuque, son of John and Theresa (Keller) Roidl.

He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a medic in the Pacific Theatre.

Mr. Roidl worked at John Deere Dubuque Works for 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Mary's Parish.

Albert enjoyed fishing and boating, hunting and camping, but especially vegetable gardening.

Surviving are four nieces, JoAnn (Norbert) Budde, of Evanston, Ill., Lucinda (Walt) Miller Marczak, of Clarksville, Tenn., Judy McCoy Davis, of Des Moines, and Margaret Miller, of Corona, Calif.; a nephew, Raymond (Mary) Roidl, of Quincy, Ill.; great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Margaret, Bertha and Catherine Roidl and Rose Miller; and, a brother, John Roidl.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank-you to the nurses and staff at Stonehill Care Center and Hospice of Dubuque.
