Leo Kaiser

ZWINGLE, Iowa -- Leo Kaiser, 74, of Des Moines, formerly of Zwingle, passed away at home on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Des Moines, with cremation taking place following services. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday at Iles Funeral Homes-Grandview Park Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. and a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Graveside services will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday in Holy Rosary Cemetery, La Motte, Iowa.

He was born in Maquoketa, where he met and married Darlene Drish. He served in the Army for two years and farmed in Zwingle.

In 1972 Leo moved to Des Moines and attended the Iowa Commission of the Blind. He operated several cafeterias in the Des Moines area retiring in 1995. Leo then resided with his daughter, Bev and her family.

Surviving are his children, Kevin (Beverly) Kaiser, Keith (Sheila) Kaiser, Ken (Katie) Kaiser and Bev (Dave) Wignall, all of Des Moines; eight grandchildren; and the mother of his children, Darlene McCauley, of McGregor.
