Jean M. Winner

Jean M. Winner, 81, of Dubuque Retirement Center, formerly of 1750 Adair St., died at 12:13 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Daniel Knepper officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. The Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Winner was employed by the Dubuque County Commission of Veteran Affairs for more than 25 years before retiring in 1987.

She was born on Sept. 2, 1926, in Dubuque, daughter of George and Katherine (Rellihan) Davis.

Jean was a member of St. Anthony's Parish for more than 50 years.

She enjoyed reading, traveling and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Her devotion and unconditional love for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends has been our greatest strength throughout our lives.

Surviving are two children, Ann Marie (David) Purnhage, of West Des Moines, and Jim (Carolyn) Winner, of Blue Springs, Mo.; five grandchildren, Holly (Jeremy) Leary, of Denver, Colo., Abby (Scott) Seipmann, of Johnston, Iowa, and Megan, Michael and Ryan Winner, of Blue Springs, a great-grandson, Owen Leary; a great-granddaughter, Stella Siepmann; and a brother, George (Isabelle) Davis, of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; a daughter, Joyce Winner; her parents; a sister, Betty (Herb) Saam; and three brothers, John (Lucille) Davis, Harry (Isabella) Davis and Jim (Jean) Davis.
