Monte H. Greenawalt

Monte H. Greenawalt, DC, DABCO, 84, founder of Foot Levelers, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, in Las Vegas.

A small private service was held in Las Vegas.

Born on Dec. 8, 1923, "Dr. Monte" was a native of Dubuque, and attended the University of Dubuque and Loras College before serving in the military during World War II. A 1948 graduate of Lincoln Chiropractic College, Monte also received postgraduate training at Northwestern College of Chiropractic in the field of orthopedics.

In December 1948, he opened his first chiropractic practice in the basement of The American Trust & Savings Bank in Dubuque. From this humble beginning, he grew to become an internationally acclaimed author, inventor, philanthropist and speaker. His ingenuity founded Foot Levelers Inc., an international health care company that has helped millions of people.

Dr. Greenawalt is survived by his wife, Ruth, of Las Vegas; a brother, Tom, of Dubuque; two sisters, Saralee Clausen, of Racine, Wis., and Gayle Beck, of Enterprise, Ore.; a son, Kent Greenawalt, of Roanoke, Va.; and two granddaughters, Jamie and Kelsey Greenawalt.
