John Felderman, a pioneer resident of Jackson county, passed away at his home on Fifth street in this city, last Sunday evening, after an illness of several months, age 84 years. Deceased was a native of Ampton, Hanover, Germany, where he was born, April 4, 1822. He emigrated to America with his parents, six brothers and one sister, when he was 23 years of age, and settled in Mosalem township, Dubuque county where he followed the occupation of farming and become prosperous. He was united in marriage with Rebecca Glade in 1849 and to this union eight children were born of whom five are living, namely: John of Tete des, Morts township, Fred, of Dubuque county, Mrs. Lizzie Kracker of Wilbur, Nebr., Mrs. Albert Etting, of Grand Island, Nebr, and Miss Rebecca Felderman of this city. He is also survived by his wife. Deceased was a man of frugal habits and strong character. He was a resident of Bellevue since 1886, and was a highly respected and esteemed citizen. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from the Lutheran church, with Rev. Lentz officiating, there being a very large attendance. The pallbearers were Herman Brown, Jacob Sisler, Chas Oberman, Henry Felderman, John Ellinghouse and Henry Weber.
