Martha M. Thimmesch

Martha Marie Thimmesch, 46, of Dubuque, an accomplished actress and entertainment producer, died Monday, March 26, 2007, in Dubuque.

Services will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 14, at St. Donatus (Iowa) Catholic Church, with burial in the St. Donatus Cemetery. All are welcome to attend. The Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., in charge of arrangements.

She was born on May 26, 1961, in Pontiac, Mich., the middle child of five children born to Susan Winnora Plum and Nicholas Palen Thimmesch. Her father's family has a longtime history with Dubuque, and her father, a well-known journalist, is buried in the St. Donatus Cemetery.

Miss Thimmesch primarily grew up in Croton-on-the-Hudson, N.Y., just outside of New York City, the Cleveland Park area of Washington, DC, and in suburban Chevy Chase, Md.

Miss Thimmesch attended John Eaton Elementary School in Washington, DC, Leland Junior High School and Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in Bethesda, Md. She attended classes at Catholic University in Washington, DC, and the acclaimed Laura Henry Acting Studio.

Miss Thimmesch lived at various times in New York City, Los Angeles and London, England, pursuing a modeling and acting career.

Among the major accomplishments in her career were appearing in several major motion pictures and several television programs. Her credits include appearing in the movies "The Crossing Guard," starring Jack Nicholson, "Jackie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis" and "The Day Lincoln Was Shot." Miss Thimmesch's television acting credits include "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" and "Homicide: Life On The Streets."

Surviving are her brothers, Nicholas Thimmesch II, of Washington, Peter Thimmesch, of Great Falls, Va., and Michael Thimmesch, of Minneapolis; a sister, Elizabeth Trafford, of Los Angeles; her Aunt Marna Thimmesch, of Galena, Ill.; and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends who will miss her greatly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas Palen Thimmesch and Susan Plum.
