John F. Venn, 75, of 1403 Cedar St., Dubuque, died at 12:15 p.m. Saturday at Finley Hospital after a lingering illness. Haudenshield funeral home was in charge. Services held 2 p.m. Monday. Buried Linwood Cemetery. Mr. Venn was born in Dyersville on May 4, 1874 and had lived in Dubuque for the past 55 years. He operated a wood yard here for 10 years. Attended West Minister Church. Surviving are wife, Mrs. Jennie Bambrough Venn; three stepdaughters, Mrs. John (Florence) Specht and Mrs. Peter (Mae) Schmitt, both of Dubuque and Mrs. Gus (Genevieve) Almburg of Dundee, Florida; one stepson, William Lightfoot of Dubuque; 24 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. John F. Venn died November 20, 1949.
