Mrs. Irvin C. (Mary E. Birch) Engler

Mary E. (Birch) Engler, 67, of 575 W. 16th St. died this morning, March 19, 1992, at home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where the scripture wake service will be said at 7:30 p.m.

Mrs. Engler last worked at Loras College, Dubuque.

She was born on Nov. 20, 1924, in Mount Ida, Wis., daughter of Reuben and Etta (Meyer) Birch. She married Irvin C. Engler on Feb 12, 1944; he survives.

She was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and its rosary society and funeral choir.

Also surviving are two sons, Thomas (and Kay) Engler of Washington, Iowa, and Jeff (and Susan) Engler of Cary, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Connie) Steffen of Dubuque and Dawn Engler at home; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two brothers, LeRoy (and Rita) and Leonard Birch, both of Dubuque; and two sisters, Mrs. Robert (JoAnn) Hunstad of Dubuque and Mrs. Herbert (Lucille) Kelzer of Madison, Wis.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque County.
