Josephine Pearl (Hankes) Anderegg

GUTTENBERG, Iowa - Josephine Pearl (Hankes) Anderegg, 96, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Guttenberg, passed away on Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, Guttenberg. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Guttenberg. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 207 First St., Guttenberg. Friends also may call after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.

She was born on Sept. 9, 1910, in Dingesville, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Pierce) Hankes. She married Oakley Anderegg on Jan. 14, 1937, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Dubuque. To this union, they were blessed with five children. She was a homemaker for several years.

Josephine received her education in Dubuque.

Josephine enjoyed sewing, making gifts and baking. She would often bake cookies for the Dyersville Hospital Auxiliary. She also was active in the Royal Neighbors Club.

Those left to keep Josephine's memory alive include three daughters, Norma Walker, of Des Moines, Joyce Anderegg, of Marshalltown, and Susan (Gary) Aulwes, of Cedar Rapids; two sons, John (Karen) Anderegg and Steve (Connie) Anderegg, both of Guttenberg; 13 grandchildren, Geoffry (Kathy) Walker, Robyn and Troy (Patti Lynn) Walker, Mike, Matt and Heather Anderegg, Jason (Joedi), Ryan (Lisa) and Chad (Claire) Aulwes, Debbie (Troy) Meyer, Nikki (Tim) Barker, Kevin (Jen) Anderegg and Gina (Tim) Brown; 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence Heer, of Elkader; two brothers, John Hankes, of Elkader, and Jim (Arletta) Hankes, of Colesburg; and two sisters-in-law, Gertrude Anderegg, of Preston, Minn., and Muriel Hankes, of Charles City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Elsie Gull; and a brother, Charles Hankes.
