A Christmas Blaze

The house on Rochester Street, owned by T. H. McQuillen, and which was occupied by Mrs. Kelly and sons James and Michael, was burned to the ground Christmas night. The origin of the blaze is an unknown problem, but it is the popular belief that a lamp was overturned during the “family set-to.” All the household effects were lost. It was very fortunate that the house was situated in an isolated locality or no telling how much of the town would have been standing today, as there was a strong gale blowing that night, which would have proven a disastrous element in almost any other conflagration.
