District Court
The case of the State vs. James Cavanaugh, for assault with intent to commit rape, occupied the Court all day, and was given to the jury in the evening, who returned a verdict of guilty of assault and battery. He was sentenced to thirty days imprisonment at hard labor. All the jurors were discharged except those engaged in the Cavanaugh case.
