River news

The Northwestern came in about 2 p.m., and found a large gathering on the wharf board to give her welcome. All pronounced her a fine steamer, and we concur in their opinion. She is a little too broad, perhaps, and this takes somewhat from her good looks. Her size in width is about that of the Tom Jasper, but she is not as long. Her Captain is Tom David, Sr.; First Clerk, F. E. Snow. She had a big freight and left here about 500 packages for the city, besides a lot for the road.
